Remember the time you first discovered music?\u00a0 Think about it\u2026 and not the dorky songs we used to sing in grade school.\u00a0 When did you discover how cool music can be?<\/p>\n

I was ten\u2026 and the sounds that made up those first memories were from Sgt Pepper\u2019s Lonely Hearts Club Band (The Beatles), Seventh Sojurn (The Moody Blues), and Killing Me Softly (Roberta Flack), all records my mother kept in her collection.\u00a0 I discovered the notion of lyrics two years later with Barry Manilow and quickly graduated to Kiss (or regressed, depending on your opinion).\u00a0 Destroyer was the first record album I bought with my lawn-mowing money and I wore the grooves clean off that vinyl.\u00a0 A lot has changed since then.<\/p>\n

Those three guys you see me on the stage with\u2026 there aren\u2019t many musicians made like them.\u00a0 Selfless, generous, dedicated, fun\u2026 all things I think of when we play music together.\u00a0 Yea, we play just cover tunes, lots of bands do that.\u00a0 There is a little trick for me and that music though\u2026 something that transcends beyond the lyrics, the syncopated beat, and the funky songs where I can\u2019t quite seem to chew gum and play at the same time.\u00a0 Playing music is one of the few things I\u2019ve ever done where the whole truly is greater than the sum of the parts.\u00a0 It\u2019s magic\u2026 I can\u2019t describe it in words and I\u2019ve not found anything that mimics the feeling when it all comes together in a song.\u00a0 When the audience has fun too, that is the icing on the cake.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
